9. Tile layout using large tiles:

Centring floor tiles in shower recess allows for better drainage and a better appearance. Four floor tiles equally surround floor waste and are used as the starting point for floor tiling in bathrooms.
The starting point for tile setout and laying has traditionally started at the doorway. This result is that tiles do not always surround the shower floor waste evenly. They are usually laid with an odd angle cut around floor waste which usually results in a poor appearance. (pages 41 & 44 of "The Bathroom Book")
